 English Enhancement Grant Scheme

Last year, we successfully got the funding of about HK$500,000 from the EEGs (English Enhancement Scheme) from Education Bureau.  We aim at spending the funding to further strengthen the teaching and learning of English through strategic planning. Every year, the financial report and the progress report of the English Enhancement Scheme are submitted to the EDB and included to the school report.

Project : Drama-in-Education and Reading Scheme (Year 1)

                 Language Arts and Reading Scheme (Year 2)

Objectives:

  • To cultivate students' interest in learning English;
  • To improve students' English proficiency;
  • To build up students’ confidence in using English, so as to achieve more effective learning of English;
  • To arouse students’ interest in reading different types of English books;
  • To prepare students to adapt to the growing demand in speaking, drama and language arts in the junior secondary English curriculum.

Project Plan:

(Year 1)

  • To enable students learn how to perform well in speaking and oral presentations, how to apply some basic drama skills in communication, and how to enrich their communication with the various language arts contents;
  • To hold inter-class Reader’s Theatre Competition;
  • To buy and level different English reading materials for Morning Reading Session;
  • To promote reading scheme by using Reading Log.

(Year 2)

  • To add some Language Arts elements in our lower form English Curriculum, e.g. poems, songs, rhymes and stories … etc;
  • To hold a mini story telling performance show;
  • To buy and level different English reading materials for Morning Reading Session;
  • To promote reading scheme by using Reading Log.

Sustainability

  • To adopt the train-the-trainer approach to provide necessary training to all our English teachers to enable them to conduct similar courses in future.
  • To enable teachers know how speech, drama and language arts can be integrated into the English curriculum to enhance the teaching and learning of English through co-planning with the NET and service provider and through class observation and evaluation.
